About The Turning Point, what we can do for you, and what makes us different.
We are a community of individuals who use acupuncture to relieve pain and stress, bring emotional ease, support wellness, and nurture ourselves through the ups & downs of our lives.
Because we want acupuncture to be a regular part of our experience for decades to come, we need it to be accessible: affordable, comfortable, convenient, and simple. We participate by paying what fits our budget, telling everyone that we know about community acupuncture, and sharing our time & talents to support the growth of this community clinic.
We are men & women, grandparents & children, people of color from all religious backgrounds & ethnicities, with varied gender identities & relationships, of all body shapes & sizes. We are truck drivers, doctors, judges, military personnel, teachers, mechanics, students, government employees, cashiers, waitresses, postal workers, artists, rock stars, semi-pro athletes…and some of us are even Royalty!
Most of us had never tried acupuncture before setting foot in The Turning Point…but once we experienced it, we couldn’t imagine NOT having it as a tool in our self-care box. We invite you to participate in our radical system: healthcare for the people, powered by the people.
About The Acupuncturist
We are presently poked by one acupuncturist, Jessica Feltz. Jessica graduated from the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine, got licensed as an Acupuncturist in the State of Maryland, and opened The Turning Point in 2007. Over 40,000 acu-naps have been taken in our chairs since then.
About Our POCA Relationship
Our clinic is a member of POCA, the People’s Organization of Community Acupuncture. There are more than 200 POCA clinics around the country! For a $25 annual fee, you can join POCA and support the growth of more clinics in underserved communities. With your POCA membership, you’ll receive a free treatment on your birthday, three (3) free treatment cards to share with your friends/family, and no new patient paperwork fees when you visit any other POCA clinics. (You don’t have to join POCA to get poked with us, though.)
Be sure you check-out the below video. It was created by one our patients who wanted to help tell the story of community acupuncture. Filming took place at Frederick’s The Turning Point and Hagerstown’s SUFI Community Acupuncture. It’s only 8 minutes long, and a great intro to what we offer.
