Regional artist, Lisa Tarkett Reed, creates paintings and drawings that explore the relationships and patterns in nature. Drawings, flowers, crystals, rocks, leaves, clay vessels, shells and bones collected by Reed over decades provide points of departure in the oil on wood paintings. Within the square formats, Reed discovers and plays with the relationships and patterns inherent in organic forms.
Reed has had solo exhibitions at Sweetwater Center for the Arts, Lascaux, 937 and View from Zenith Galleries in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Shenandoah University and Walker Fine Arts Center Gallery, Patrick Henry Community College in Virginia and Figure Five Gallery, San Francisco, California. She has shown her work in group exhibitions at the Carnegie Museum of Art and The Pittsburgh Center for the Arts in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, The State Museum of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg, the Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts, New Castle, Pennsylvania, the Cheltenham Center for the Arts, Philadelphia, The Blanche Ames Gallery, The Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center and the Frederick Cultural Arts Center in Frederick, Maryland and the Kentler International Drawing Space, Brooklyn, New York.
Reed has taught drawing and painting for over fifteen years in regional art centers in Maryland, Pittsburgh and Virginia and at private schools in Brooklyn and Virginia.
